High-Frequency Ultrasound Core

The HFU Imaging Core offers access to the state-of-the-art VevoF2, FujiFilm Visualsonics. The imaging is non-invasive, allowing serial measurements when required.

We currently have a 29-15 MHz transducer (30mm scan depth) and a 57-25 MHz transducer (18mm scan depth), well suited for most adult mouse and rat imaging. Other transducers, covering zebrafish and neonatal mouse sizes up to small companion animal size are available for purchase from the manufacturer.

Some of the rodent Imaging Capabilities available as fee-for-service include:

ECHOCARDIOGRAMS (screening and specialty)

ONCOLOGY – non-invasive serial measurements of tumor size and vascularity

ORGAN ARCHITECTURE – including blood flow of kidney, liver, pancreas, spleen, uterus, brain, and others

DEVICE/NEEDLE PLACEMENT – guided using ultrasound

BLOOD FLOW – Color Doppler

BLOOD VESSEL WALL MOTION – including speckle tracking analyses of motion

PULSED WAVE VELOCITY – non-invasive, specific vessel locations

PULSED WAVE DOPPLER – including analyses of associated waveforms

ULTRASOUND ENGINEERING – raw data from acquired images can be exported for use

We have substantial experience collecting and analyzing rodent ultrasound images.
